Almost a couple of months ago, I was working in Bartley Green and came across a large marble plaque on the wall. This plaque was placed in memory of Jane Bunford, 1895-1922. Jane was known as Ginny and she was born in Bartley Green and lived across the road in a cottage. Ginny had grown to a height of 7'11" and became the tallest woman the world had known.
Afterwards, a thought crossed my mind, what if my job hadn't brought me past the memorial, I would never have found out about Ginny, and how many other places have a history like this that I have never found, so I decided to create a series to take us to these hidden and little known places, thus, Ginny became my first deployment for my new series called 'Local History', and hopefully, will not be the last.
