Welcome to finding out how to make your first Munzee capture. The process is pretty easy, it's sometimes the finding that can be difficult!

Here are some basic steps to get you started using the Munzee app on your iPhone.

Happy hunting!

You never know where your next Munzee will be!

Step 1

Picture
Your Munzee Stats screen, 'Home'.
Start up the Munzee app on your mobile, enter your login details. You will be greeted with the screen shown opposite, your stats.

At the top you will see the 'News' button, this will take you to Twitter page of @munzeeinfo (the official Munzee Twitter, not this websites!). You can find out what's happening at Munzee HQ here.

Underneath is your stats bar showing your score and the level you have reached. The lower Munzee levels are easy to obtain, but as you advance in the game, the levels become increasingly more difficult. Next showing is the results of captures on your own deployed Munzee and any Journal entries on your own Munzee made by other players. The Journal entries will alert you to any problems they are experiencing, such as the Munzee is missing.

Along the bottom of the screen is the menu to take you to different options.

Step 2

Picture
Munzee List Screen
At the bottom click 'Hunt' and you will be shown a list of the nearest Munzee to you. Each one gives the name of the Munzee, the owner (person who deployed), the star rating given by other players who have captured it, the amount of captures and the distance from you. Click on any one and you will go to the 'Notes/Clues' of that Munzee.

Step 3

Picture
Munzee Map Screen
Click the 'View Map' button at the top, you will be shown a map of all Munzee within 750-1000m in relation to your position (shown as a blue dot). You can zoom in or out by using two fingers to 'pinch' the map, or double tapping to zoom in, or move to another area by sliding a finger across, the map will update every time.

Now choose the Munzee you wish to capture by clicking on the 'm' pin, a tab will appear above the pin.

Step 4

Picture
Here the screen shows you 'Details' such as the name of the Munzee, star rating, owner, date deployed, total amount of captures to date, and the last time it was captured. The 'Journal' tab is where other players leave comments. It's worth checking this first before going off hunting a munzee! The 'History' tab giving a list of those players who have captured the Munzee.

Underneath the tabs are the Notes/Clues which usually tell you what the Munzee is about and how to find it, if you are lucky!

At the bottom is 'Find This Munzee'. Clicking this will show a map of where the Munzee is and your position (blue dot). No other Munzee will be shown on the map to help you 'home in' on the one you have selected. All you need to do now is walk/drive to the area where the Munzee is deployed, and as you move towards the Munzee you will notice in the bottom right corner the distance remaining to the deployment zone.

Step 5 - The Capture

Picture
Camera Capture - Sorry about the finger!
So hopefully you have now found where the Munzee is hidden and it hasn't been damaged. What now?

At the bottom of the screen is the main menu, click on capture. The camera will now operate and you will now need to move the mobile closer to the Munzee until it fills the screen, as you do this you will hear a beep as the scanner detects the code in the Munzee and 'captures' it.

If you find the camera is not capturing, give the mobile a quick shake as you move in, this will help the auto focus to kick in. Sometimes reflections can interfere, just reposition your mobile at a slightly different angle to eliminate some or all of the reflections.

Your First 5 Points!

First Level Reached!

Picture
Back to the 'Home' screen now and you will get a notification (pop-up) saying you have reached level 1.

Congratulations!

Captured!

Picture
Back to the 'Hunt' on the main-menu at the bottom, and you will see on the list that the pin has now changed colour. If you click on 'View Map' at the top, you will see the pin on the map is the same captured colour.

Filter Option

Picture
On the map screen at the top is a filter option. Click this and select the options you wish to apply.

Great for hiding all those Munzee you have captured to see all the ones you want to!

Happy Hunting!

Hopefully you will quickly get used to using the app now to go out capturing Munzee's and will eventually have your own methods and shortcuts for capturing.
